Tic Tac Toe (noughts and crosses) is the quick two-player classic. Take turns marking X and O on a 3×3 grid; the first to get three in a row wins. Pass the phone back and forth. No internet needed.

How to play Tic Tac Toe

Player X taps an empty square to place a mark.
Hand the phone over. Player O places an O.
Keep taking turns until someone gets three in a row, or the board fills up.

Rules

Three of your marks in a row, column or diagonal wins.
You can only mark an empty square.
If all nine squares fill with no line of three, the game is a draw.

Tips to get better

Going first? Take the centre or a corner.
Always block your opponent's two-in-a-row before building your own.
Set up a fork, two lines that each need one more mark, so your opponent can only block one.
Between two careful players, every game ends in a draw.
