Offices outside Delhi

These 14 holidays are compulsory everywhere. The Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee in each State capital adds three more from the 12 optional holidays below, and the State's final list is then fixed.

Optional: three are chosen (12)

  • An additional day for Dussehra
  • Holi
  • Janmashtami (Vaishnav)
  • Ram Navami
  • Maha Shivratri
  • Ganesh Chaturthi / Vinayak Chaturthi
  • Makar Sankranti
  • Rath Yatra
  • Onam
  • Pongal
  • Sri Panchami / Basant Panchami
  • Vishu / Vaisakhi / Vaisakhadi / Bahag Bihu / Mashadi / Ugadi / Chaitra Sukladi / Cheti Chand / Gudi Padava / 1st Navratra / Nauraj / Chhath Puja / Karva Chauth

For Delhi/New Delhi, DoPT chose Holi, Ram Navami and Janmashtami.

Notes from the order

  • Dates of Id-ul-Fitr, Id-ul-Zuha, Muharram and Id-e-Milad may change with the sighting of the moon. Changes can be announced at short notice through PIB, TV, radio and newspapers (para 5).
  • In States where Naraka Chaturdasi alone is the State Government's Diwali holiday, Central offices there may observe it on that day instead (para 6).
  • Bank holidays follow the Department of Financial Services' instructions, not this list (para 10). We will add 2027 bank holidays when RBI publishes them.
  • Industrial, commercial and trading establishments of the Central Government set up to 16 holidays of their own, including the three national holidays (para 7).
  • Festival dates in our panchang can differ from the holiday date; where they do, both are shown.
