IPC Section 57: Fractions of terms of punishment
Indian Penal Code, 1860 · Chapter 3: Punishments
Repealed on 1 July 2024 and replaced by the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS).
In calculating fractions of terms of punishment, 1[imprisonment] for life shall be reckoned as equivalent to 1[imprisonment] for twenty years.
